GM launches Chevrolet Spark in Jammu
JAMMU: World’s largest carmaker General Motors has launched its compact car, Chevrolet Spark, in the city priced between Rs 3.09 lakh to Rs 3.89 lakh.
The company had earlier introduced Spark in various parts of the country and plans to sell 2,500 to 3,000 units of the compact car in a month initially.
The new compact car has been fine-tuned to suit the Indian driving conditions and the company has sold about 20 lakh units of the car in more than 100 markets since its launch in 1998.
Spark is an upgraded version Korean carmaker Daewoo’s popular compact model Matiz. GM had acquired Daewoo after it went bankrupt nearly 10 years ago.
The company’s new compact car offering would be powered by a 1,000 cc petrol engine and would be available in four variants.
“Chevrolet spark is the world’s newest-generation compact car. It sets a new standard for its segment through its modern design, space utilisation, affordability and solid engineering,” GM India Vice President P Balendran told reporters on Thursday.
